Australia gives help to disabled people in Sekong
(KPL) Ministry of Labour and Social Welfare (MLSW) signed a Memorandum of Understanding with Care International in Laos on Participatory Development of Economic and Social Affairs for People with Disabilities in Sekong province on 26 August.
The signatories to the document were Head of Retirement Department of MLSW, Ms. Bouaphanh Likhaiya and Country Representative of Care International in Laos, Mr. Henry Braun.
This event was witnessed by representatives of the embassy of Australia in Laos and members of relevant organistions.
The aim of this project was to help the disabled people in three districts of Sekong province, Lamame, Dakcheung and Kalum so as to get them to live and participate in the socio- economic development of Laos.
The main activities of the project were to build the capacity of the Disabled People’s Association of this province and to get the disabled people to participate in the socio-economic life of the country.
The Australian Government, through its aid body, AusAID gave one billion kip to fund the work of this project for one year, October 2010- September 2011.
