Local farmers plant cassavas on 1,500 ha for BMC Lao-Vieng
(KPL) So far this year, over 1,000 families in 61 villages in Vientiane and Sayaboury provinces have planted cassavas on over 1,500 ha for the BMC Lao-Vieng.
Farmers in districts of Muen, Feuang, Sanakham, Hinheup in Vientiane province and districts of Parklay and Kenethao in Sayaboury province have planted cassava for the company.
The cassava plantation by local farmers doubles last year’s farmland of this crop. The BMC Lao-Vieng Director, Mr. Tobe Yialiheu, said that cassava plantation has been increased from three districts to six districts through the first six months of this year.
The BMC Lao-Vieng Company in cooperation with authorities of Vientiane province and Sayaboury province held a meeting to review the cassava plantation of the company in the two provinces.
Next year, the plantation of cassava by farmers in the two provinces is expected to reach 2,000 ha, according to Mr. Tobe.
