Flash flood warning

(KPL) The Cabinet Secretariat warmed last week about weather conditions and heavy rainfall that could cause flash flood at the moment.

Under the Cabinet Secretariat's urgent notice on weather and heavy rainfall, local people are warned of flash flood that would happen during this period.

The notice has also warned local people to prepare all means to prevent flash flood and closely follow the weather forecast and other natural disaster events.

At the same time the Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry also issued a similar notice that villages in valleys and by rivers in central and northern provinces are warned of flash flood between late August and early next month, triggered by the influence of the Mindulle storm to sweep through northeast Laos on 26 August.

There will be heavy rainfall in some part of the country, which will raise the water level of tributaries, streams and swamps. Despite no flooding, local people in valleys should be cautious with flash flood.

This week’s warning of the Agriculture and Forestry Ministry to relevant departments and provincial agriculture and forestry services suggested that they should pay special attention to monitoring and close coordination with local administration in handling the coming Mindulle storm.

The Ministry’s warning called on villages at risk to take caution with strong wind, flash flood and landslide that could happen in the next few days.
