Houaphanh attracts USD 7.81 million in first nine months
(KPL ) Houaphanh province has been able to attract a total investment of USD 7.81 million of domestic and foreign companies in the first nine months of this current year.
However, the investment by both domestic and foreign companies has achieved only 61.98 per cent of the province's target.
The Planning and Investment Service of this north-eastern province said that domestic companies had invested in five projects with an amount of USD 1.96 million, which was just over 25 per cent of the entire investment in the province. Meanwhile, foreign companies had invested in seven projects with an investment of USD 4.1 million, 52.5 per cent of the entire investment.
According to the Service, there are six projects of joint venture between local and foreign companies with an investment of USD 1.75 million.
The Service said that most of the investment, totalling USD 4.8 million, went to the services sector and USD 1.67 million to trading and industrial sectors.
It is expected that in the last three months of the 2009-2010 fiscal year the province would see an investment of around USD 4 million from both domestic and foreign companies and the province’s potential areas as agriculture, tourism, handicraft production and hydropower, would be the most attractive ones to both domestic and foreign investors.
