PM visits Mother-and-Child Hospital to inspect dengue fever treatment
(KPL) Prime Minister Bouasone Bouphavanh and his group on 24 August visited the Mother-and-Child Hospital to inspect the dengue fever treatment.
PM Bouasone Bouphavanh was briefed about the spread and treatment of dengue fever at the hospital from Dr. Bouavanh Senesathith, Director General of the Mother-and-Child Hospital.
According to Dr. Bouavanh, between January and May 2010 the hospital admitted only two to three case on average while diagnosing 20-30 others positive to dengue fever a month.
In June alone, 39 people were found positive to the fever, 31 of whom were admitted for treatment. In July 275 people were found positive to dengue fever but only 118 of them were admitted for treatment.
In August, the detection rate rose. The fever infected 372 persons, 129 of whom were admitted to hospital.
In order to cope with such a situation, Dr. Bouavanh said that all medical workers in the hospital have been mobilised to actively work 24 hours to care for patients with a high sense of responsibility.
