56 cattle die of haemorrhagic septicemia in Houameuang
(KPL) Haemorrhagic septicemia has killed 56 cattle in Houameuang district, Houaphanh province, from June to July. According to a local source, the epidemic outbreak caused a loss of 138 million kip to farmers in the villages of Soplao, Lao, and Namneun. The outbreak was attributed to the consumption of contaminated meat of the dead animals by local people and partial vaccination. So far, the district agriculture and forestry office has dispatched technical teams to give advice to local farmers and vaccines to 758 cattle and issued a notice to ban the consumption of contaminated meat.
