34 th Lao-Viet meeting closes with achievements

(KPL) The 34 th meeting of two Cooperation Committees between Lao and Vietnamese Governments closed in Vientiane Capital with many achievements on 7 January.
Lao delegation led by Deputy Prime Minister Somsavat Lengsavad who is also a supervisor of economic work and the President of Lao-Viet Cooperation Committee and Vietnam side led by his Vietnamese counterpart Mr. Nguyen Xuan Phuc.
The meeting estimated the output of bilateral cooperation agreement on economy, culture, education, science and technical terms in the period of 2011.
The investment of Vietnamese in Laos increased by US$ 3.57 billion, which was classified the second rank of investor in Laos. The bilateral trade volume saw an increase and the implementation of Official Development Assistance and historic book of special relationship between Laos and Vietnam have so far met with satisfactory successful.
Two governments also reached a strategic cooperation agreement till 2020 and 2015 by concentrating on the improvement of efficiency quality of education and human resource development, in Vientiane Capital, last Saturday.
Both sides will closely coordinate each other to celebrate “The Year of Solidarity Friendship 2012 between Laos-Vietnam, the 50th anniversary of Diplomatic Relations and the 35th anniversary of Friendship and Cooperation Treaty”.
Different activities to mark the forthcoming historic event will include cultural performance, sports competition, science seminars, rallies and exchange visit and meetings between officials both sides from grass-root to high levels.
The 34th meeting was held under a recent bilateral cooperation agreement on economy, culture, education, science, technical term 2012, took note by the two Presidents.
The two sides signed an amended draft agreement on Golf Development Project in Dongphosy area, Vientiane Capital to be the specific economic zone between the Lao government and the Vientiane Golf Long Thanh Investment and Real Estate Company.
They also signed a joint investment contract on copper exploration in Lamam district, Sekong province between Lao Government and Hoang Anh Gia Lai Group.
At the same time, Vietnamese delegation led by Vietnamese Deputy Prime Minister Mr. Nguyen Xuan Phuc paid a courtesy visit to President Choummaly Sayasone and Prime Minister Mr. Thongsing Thammavong and called at Laos-Vietnam cooperation projects.
