Hongsa power company backs up elephant festival

 (KPL) Hongsa Power Company Ltd has donated 40 million kip for the 6th Elephant Festival held this year in Sayaboury district and province on 17-19 February.

The donation was presented by Director of External Relations of Hongsa Power Company, Mr. Pichet Chuchuen, to Sayaboury District Chief, Mrs Bounphak Inthapanya.

The handover ceremony was held at the elephant festival on 17 February in the presence of officials of both sides.

One thousand lighting balloons for the beauty night were presented to the province, made by the women group in the new resettlement village. Lighting balloon is one of handicraft trainings provided by the project to generate income for the re-settlers.

More than 150,000 foreign and domestic tourists visited the elephant festival.

Last week, Hongsa Power Company has also donated 100 roofing tiles for the construction of Simounkhoun temple in Hongsa district.

This temple has a main sanctuary (locally known as Sim) of Leu tribe style, a unique one facing to the west and aging over 400, Vice Chief of Simounkhoun village, Mr Sieng-ou Phuangkeo said.
