US$ 500,000 offered to help earthquake victims in China

(KPL) The government of the Lao PDR has recently presented US$ 500,000 of its aid relief to help the victims of Sichuan earthquake in China. This aid relief has not been offered in cash but by presenting 1,000 cubic metres of timber.
Early this year, the Lao government has made donations of US$100,000 to assist the victims of the earthquake in China.
An official ceremony to present the certificate of assistance to the quake victims in China was held on 4 July in Yunnan province of China.
Speaking at the function, Dr. Thongloun Sisoulith, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs, said that the donations from Laos would be small in number but they were from the heart and mind of the Lao government and people. The assistance was also a part of concerns from the Lao government and people.
On this occasion, Mr. Jin Quang Yong, Governor of Yunnan province, expressed thanks and gratitude to the Lao government and people for their kind assistance and highly valued the relation of friendship and co-operation between Laos and China.
