Lao-Indian Entrepreneurship Development Centre enhances farmers’ competitiveness

(KPL) Over 100 farmers have participated in a training course on market management and agro-business development plan, which was held in Vientiane province last month.

Held by the Lao-Indian Entrepreneurship Development Centre in cooperation with the Promotion of Organic Agriculture and Marketing in the Lao PDR and the Agriculture and Forestry Service of Vientiane province, the training drew the participation of farmers from the provinces of Vientiane, Khammouane and Champassak. The training course was aimed to enable the trainees who are the farmers from the said provinces to be more competitive in doing business by equipping them with knowledge of business administration, risk management, market management, the conducting of feasibility study into establishing a company and community-based business as well as financial management, community-based commercial banks, buyer-and-seller contract and the access to financial institutes.

The trainees were representatives of groups of farmers of organic crops, rice farming, coffee, maize, animal breeders and village saving funds.
