PM receives foreign guests
(KPL) Prime Minister Bouasone Bouphavanh on 2 September received Japanese Ambassador Mr Masaaki Miyashita, who bade farewell upon the end of his diplomatic mission in the Lao PDR.
The Lao Prime Minister expressed satisfaction with the smooth development of the relations of friendship and co-operation between Laos and Japan.
He hoped these relations would be further strengthened. On this occasion, the outgoing ambassador expressed thanks to the Lao government for facilitating his diplomatic mission in the past. Mr. Bouasone Bouphavanh and the Japanese diplomat also discussed other issues of mutual interest.
On the same day, PM Bouasone Bouphavanh also received a courtesy visit of Mr. Indronil Sengupta, Director of the Tata Steel Corporation, Hanoi office. At the talks, Mr. Indronil Sengupta briefed PM Bouasone Bouphavanh about the purpose of his visit to Laos, which aimed to discuss on the possibility of his company’s interest in mining investment in Laos.
The Tata Steel is the world’s sixth largest and Asia’s first integrated private sector steel company in steel making for a proposed steel complex with an estimated capacity of 4.5 million tonnes per year.
