Laos and Fiji establish diplomatic relations
(KPL) The Lao PDR and the Republic of Fiji have established diplomatic relations following a joint communique signed in New York on 27 August.
The joint communique was signed by H.E. Ms. Kannika Phommachanh, Permanent Representative of the Lao People's Democratic Republic to the United Nations and H.E. Mr. Peter THOMSON, Permanent Representative of the Republic of Fiji to the United Nations.
According to a source in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the decision was made in accordance with the wishes of both countries to expand their bilateral relations of friendship and political and economic co-operation.
The Republic of Fiji is the 132nd country which has established diplomatic relations with the Lao PDR.
