Preparation for Miss Laos 2010

(KPL) The Ministry of Information and Culture and the K & C Company Group will organise the second Miss Laos contest 2010 scheduled for 26 November to find the nation’s most beautiful Lao woman, according to a press conference held at Don Chan Palace Hotel in Vientiane on 1 September.

Taking part in the press conference Mr. Sipheng Vongphanya, director of the Mass Culture Department of the Ministry of Information and Culture, said that this event was giving a good opportunity to the women nationwide.

Mr. Sipheng said the Miss Laos contest was one of many activities to raise awareness on patriotism for young people, renovation and promotion of Lao fine traditional culture that has been transferred from ancestors.

Lao women countrywide with at least 1.65 m high, aged between 18-26, good character, ability, knowledge and good human relations can apply for the upcoming contest from 13-17 September at the Samart Event Organiser Company in Vientiane Capital and in Luang Prabang province at the Villa Santi Hotel from 22-25 September, in Savannakhet province at the Daosavanh Resort Hotel from 20-22 September, and in Champassak province at Champassak Grand Hotel from 23-26 September.

The candidates in other provinces can apply at provincial offices or education institutions.

The final round contest with 24 candidates will be held at Don Chan Palace Hotel on 11 November.

The press conference was attended by Vice-President of the Lao Journalists’ Association, Mr. Somsanouk Mixay, Deputy-Director of the Mass Culture Department, Dr. Duangchampy Vuthisouk, and Director of the K&C Company, Ms Ketsavanh Phanyathip.
