Rally marks 65th anniversary of Vietnam's National Day

'KPL) The LPRP CC's Executive Committee, the Government of the Lao PDR, the Laos-Vietnam Friendship Association in collaboration with the Vietnamese Embassy in Vientiane organised a rally on 2 September at the National Culture Hall in celebration of the 65th anniversary of the National Day of Vietnam (September 2).

Speaking at the rally, Mr. Bouasone Bouphavanh, Prime Minister of the Lao PDR, said that during the past 65 years under the sound leadership of the Communist Party of Vietnam, the people of Vietnam had met a number of victories and achievements. These included the August Revolution in 1945, Dien Bien Phu Victory in 1954, the Great Spring Victory (The liberation of South Vietnam in 1975).

On this occasion, Prime Minister Bouasone Bouphavanh also expressed thanks to the Party, Government and people of Vietnam for their great assistance, comradeship, special friendly relations and comprehensive co-operation offered to Laos in the past and present time. He said that Laos and Vietnam has stood shoulder to shoulder for the cause of revolution in the past time and in the cause of national defence and construction at present.

Mr. Ta Minh Chau, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam, said that the August Revolution and the founding of the Democratic Republic of Vietnam were victories for the whole Vietnamese nation.

Vietnam’s economy has continued to grow, especially in the seven months of 2010 when the GDP has reached 6.15%, industry 13%, export value US$ 38 billion and foreign investment US$ 9.1 billion, according to Ta Minh Chau.

Vietnam and Laos have maintained a long standing traditional friendly relation jointly built by late President Ho Chi Minh and late President Kayson Phomvihane of Laos. Vietnam and Laos can be absolutely proud of their traditional friendship, special solidarity and comprehensive cooperation as these ties have stood the test of time and through the ups and downs in history, said Vietnamese Ambassador Ta Minh Chau.

Vietnamese Ambassador reaffirmed that the Party, State and people of Vietnam would do their utmost together with the Party, State and people of Laos to maintain and strengthen the special friendly relations and comprehensive co-operation between Laos and Vietnam.
