Vientiane Environment Agency inspects cassava powder plant

(KPL) The authorities of Water Resource and Environment Agency of Vientiane Capital have monitored the environment addressing conditions of the Cassava Powder Production Factory of Lao-Indochina Group Ltd, in Park Ngum district, Vientiane Capital on 9 March.

The Director of Lao-Indochina Group Ltd, Mr Chanthamonh Vongvisay admitted that last year the waste water draining out of the cassava power production factory affected the environment conditions, but it has been dealt with.

As a result, the environment teamwork has been established for monitoring and inspecting the quality of water and factory environment conditions.

The Lao-Indochina Group Ltd is constructing 11 waste water treatment basins, which completes 95 per cent.

The company has also signed a contract with a Thai company “TBEC” to construct a biogas plant worth US$4 million. The biogas plant will help to cope with waste water and bad smell produced by the cassava plant.

The Lao-Indochina Group Ltd will also build an organic fertiliser factory in 2011 that the cassava mess will be brought to produce organic fertiliser, according to a report of the director of Lao-Indochina Group Ltd gave to the Water Resource and Environment Agency of Vientiane Capital.

These constructions will sort environment matter and protection and implemented by Vientiane Mayor’s agreement on the environment protection and addressing conditions in factories in Vientiane Capital.

The delegation was led by Mrs Khamfong Phomvongsay, Head Office of the Water Resource and Environment Agency of Vientiane Capital.
